Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical Unit at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients in the Medical/Surgical Unit, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Coordinate care planning with other disciplines, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  • Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for the nursing care of patients in the assigned unit or a portion of the unit.
  • Promote patient safety at all times, and function as the nursing leader of the nursing team assigned to the OR.
  • Responsible for circulating in the room assigned, and promoting harmonious relationships within the unit group of physicians and nursing personnel.
  • Check charts for necessary records, including H&P or note dictated, Surgery Pre-Op checklist completed, Anesthia record, Surgery permits properly signed, Necessary lab and x-ray reports, and Responsible for proper positioning of patients and skin preparation.
  • Responsible for meticulous observance of aseptic technique by all groups (medical and nursing), and completion of sponge count, needle count and instrument count when indicated.
  • Complete patient charges and nursing notes, and responsible for seeing that specimen is properly cared for.
  • Must be able to take call, and keep the OR supervisor informed of nursing and staff problems.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • If CNOR, continuing education requirements for re-certification is 150 in 5 years.
  • Current RN licensure.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification within one year.
  • CNOR certification, though not required, is a benefit.
  • Must have a copy of a diploma or official transcript of the highest level of education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to communicate with physicians, all levels of hospital personnel, patients, visitors and families.
  • Pass pharmacology test given by NARMC with a score of 80% or above.
  • Post-orientation, demonstrate knowledge as to patient care, medications, ability to recognize emergency situations then take appropriate actions.
  • Knowledge of methods peculiar to OR nursing or complete on-the-job training.
  • Will not function as RN-circulating capacity until approved by OR supervisor.
  • Knowledge of hospital and OR policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
