UMass Memorial Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Transfusion Medicine Physician to join our team at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities- Medical Leadership: Provide medical decision-making for blood product orders and transfusion practices, interpretation of serological workups, and investigation of reported transfusion reactions.
- Donor Management: Provide medical decision-making regarding donor management and deferrals, and counseling donors as necessary and appropriate on deferral and maintenance of the Donor Deferral Registry.
- Clinical Services: Cover therapeutic services, including therapeutic phlebotomy, therapeutic apheresis, and collections for cellular therapy, outpatient clinical sessions, inpatient consultations, and participation in the night and weekend on-call schedule for Transfusion Medicine.
- Academic and Research Opportunities: Participate in basic, translational, or clinical research projects, collaborate or lead as principal investigator, and pursue projects that lead to presentations at national meetings and publications in relevant fields.
- Teaching and Education: Engage in informal and didactic teaching, and direct supervision of medical students, clinical pathology and anesthesiology residents, and hematology/oncology fellows who rotate through the Service.
