Position Overview
The University of Iowa is in search of a dedicated full-time Staff Auditor within the Office of Internal Audit. This role is pivotal in orchestrating and executing a diverse range of internal audits aimed at assessing operational and business processes for adequate internal controls and adherence to various policies and regulations. The Staff Auditor will identify potential process risks and propose actionable recommendations for enhancements. Additionally, this position will involve conducting follow-up evaluations of audited areas to ensure that management has implemented appropriate corrective measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute internal audits across various departments.
- Evaluate business processes to identify gaps in internal controls.
- Provide insightful recommendations to senior management for process improvements.
- Conduct follow-up reviews to verify corrective actions taken by management.
Reporting Structure
This position will report directly to the Chief Audit Executive and will be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

The Office of Internal Audit operates as an independent and objective assurance and consulting entity designed to enhance the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the organization. By employing a systematic and disciplined approach, the office aims to add value and improve operational efficiencies.
Qualifications Required
- A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or information technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to three years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical skills to assess business policies and practices critically.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with data analysis tools and techniques.
- Ability to manage projects effectively to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in auditing.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, or CISA.
- In-depth knowledge of internal audit methodologies.
- Basic understanding of organizational success factors.
- Familiarity with Workday functionalities and controls.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $55,000 and $70,000.
