Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified School Nurse to join our team at Iowa City Community School District. The successful candidate will provide direct and indirect health services to students, participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school health services program, and collaborate with community agencies and district staff to promote health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess students' physical and emotional health to plan and develop individualized plans for health services.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care to students during the school day.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and district staff to promote health and wellness.
  • Assist students and families in accessing health care and social service resources.
  • Plan and supervise the care of students with special health care needs.
  • Provide staff training on student health conditions.
  • Maintain student health records.
  • Assist in the identification, follow-up, and reporting of child abuse/neglect cases.
Requirements
  • Registered nurse with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Community health or school nursing experience preferred.
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people.
  • Evidence of good ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare needs of children.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with 184 work days per year. Salary is established by district adopted salary schedules.

Evaluation

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District's policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
