Emergency Department Technician

The Emergency Department Technician plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will assist registered nurses with delegated tasks, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Observe patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and report findings to the RN, promoting early intervention and optimal patient outcomes.
- Escort stable patients to other departments as required, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
- Clean, procure, and return equipment and supplies, adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Assist with ordering and maintaining stock items, ensuring adequate supplies and minimizing waste.
- Perform special procedures, such as venipuncture, splinting, and nonsterile dressing changes, under the direction of the RN.
- Set up for Emergency Department procedures and assist the RN as directed, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Operate patient monitoring equipment, record rhythm strips, and run 12-lead EKGs, biomarkers, and glucometer readings, as delegated by the RN.
- Perform phlebotomy, collect laboratory specimens, and insert saline locks under the direction of the RN, ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Adapt patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate the unique needs of each patient, promoting a patient-centered approach.
- Perform clerical and non-nursing duties, such as serving as a receptionist, transcribing orders, and maintaining patient, unit, and hospital records.
- Provide exceptional customer service, greeting patients in a friendly and professional manner, and ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- 1-2 years of patient care experience in an acute care hospital or military medic setting, or an Active EMT license in lieu of experience required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- ACLS required within six months of hire for Associates at Childrens & Santa Rosa required.
- EMT Basic or EMT Intermediate license is preferred or required in lieu of experience.
