YAI offers a rewarding career opportunity for an Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Support Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live fulfilling lives.

About the Position:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual who shares our commitment to providing person-centered supports. In this role, you will work closely with program supervisors and other support staff to ensure the harmonious and safe daily conduct of individuals in assigned programs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities, upholding their personal rights, and displaying patience and tolerance while providing emotional support and building positive relationships.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the overall supervision, protection, and care of individuals at all times, including maintenance of program guidelines for the protection of individuals.

In addition, you will facilitate learning and training in fire safety, identify and appropriately escalate signs of an individual's potential harm to self or others, and provide health, wellness, and safety by supervising individuals and managing crisis situations.

You will be required to provide support in various settings and in accordance with each person's individualized service and behavior support plans.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $18.50-$19.25 per hour. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation, holiday, and sick time, 403(b) retirement plan, life insurance, and long-term disability.

Job Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License with no more than five points.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of position.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with people with I/DD.
  • Willingness to take initiative and demonstrate positivity, patience, and empathy.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
