Position Overview

LOCATION:
Suburban Outpatient Pavilion

HOURS:
Part-time, Monday through Friday, with flexible shifts available. No weekends or holidays required.

SIGN-ON BONUS:
Available for external candidates.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver nursing care to patients within a healthcare setting. This includes providing care to individuals across various age groups, including:

- Pediatric (infants to 12 years)
- Adolescent (13 to 17 years)
- Adult (18 to 64 years)
- Geriatric (over 64 years)


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified candidates will be expected to perform the following duties:

- Offer clinical guidance via phone or electronic communication, utilizing clinical judgment and triage protocols in line with regulatory standards.

- Collaborate with healthcare providers as necessary.

- Deliver patient-specific education covering preventive care, chronic disease management, acute diagnoses, medications, and other relevant topics.

- Prepare patients for consultations using established rooming standards.

- Administer injections and medications as prescribed, adhering to departmental protocols and regulatory standards.

- Assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and examinations as directed.

- Conduct Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.

- Collect laboratory specimens and prepare them for further analysis.

- Authorize prescription refills as per provider instructions.

- Support test tracking and monitor overdue results.

- Change dressings and remove sutures as required.

- Ensure exam rooms are well-stocked and sanitized after each patient visit.

- Maintain and clean medical instruments and equipment post-procedure.

- Collaborate with providers and patients to review and adjust care plans, assessing patient progress as needed.

- Engage in proactive outreach for patients needing preventive and chronic disease services.

- Coordinate care activities among specialists and facilitate transitions of care to gather all necessary patient information.

- Assist in managing referrals, education, and community resources.

- Actively participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience and care quality.

- Attend daily meetings with the healthcare provider.

- Serve as an advocate for patient experience, maintaining a positive demeanor when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.

- Communicate professionally with all stakeholders, prioritizing customer service.

- Handle patient information confidentially in accordance with privacy policies.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Secondary duties may include:
- Performing various front office tasks as needed.
- Occasional regional travel may be required; a valid driver's license is necessary.
- Participating in on-call responsibilities as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM REQUIRED:
- Completion of an LPN or RN educational program.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) issued by the state nursing board.
- AHA CPR/BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.
- This role necessitates occasional regional travel to multiple sites.

PREFERRED:
- One to two years of nursing experience in a primary or specialty care setting.
- Prior experience in triage, emergency care, cardiac care, intensive care, or related nursing specialties.

EQUIPMENT USAGE:

Tools: Proficient in using computers, phones, copiers, printers, and general clinical supplies.

Software: Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and EPIC.
