Job Summary

The Lactation Specialist plays a vital role in providing exceptional care to families and newborns at Rose Medical Center. This position requires advanced breastfeeding knowledge and skills, with a focus on delivering age-appropriate care that meets the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of families and newborns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate lactation services in the hospital, providing inpatient consultation and telephone follow-up.
  • Serve as a resource to medical and nursing staff, offering expertise on breastfeeding and lactation.
  • Develop and implement individualized breastfeeding plans, taking into account the unique needs and circumstances of each family.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
Requirements
  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.
  • Current BLS Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Completion of a certified lactation program.
  • IBCLC certification preferred.
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • Minimum 2-3 years clinical experience in Perinatal nursing, including work with breastfeeding mothers and babies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in lactation and breastfeeding, with a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, nutrition, and psychosocial aspects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
