Job SummaryThe County of Delaware, OH is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to join our team. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the public, and enforcing laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Preserve the peace and enforce laws and regulations
- Protect the life and property of citizens
- Patrol assigned areas and respond to calls
- Apprehend violators of the law
- Perform vacant house and business checks
- Control traffic and transport prisoners
- Provide county court and county building security
- Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment
- Prepare accurate and complete reports
- Investigate criminal activity and take statements from suspects, victims, and witnesses
- Evaluate reported offenses and provide surveillance
- Prepare criminal case files and develop probable cause for arrest or search warrants
- Appear in court as a witness and represent the Sheriff's Office in the community
- Work closely with residents and community management to resolve problems
- Speak to community groups and educate the public on law enforcement practices
- Ensure the proper delivery of legal notices and serve individuals with summons, attachments, and other legal documents
- Completion of a secondary education or equivalent
- Certification from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council
- Valid Ohio driver's license and clean criminal record
- Ability to properly administer first aid and CPR
