Job Summary

The County of Delaware, OH is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to join our team. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the public, and enforcing laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preserve the peace and enforce laws and regulations
  • Protect the life and property of citizens
  • Patrol assigned areas and respond to calls
  • Apprehend violators of the law
  • Perform vacant house and business checks
  • Control traffic and transport prisoners
  • Provide county court and county building security
  • Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment
  • Prepare accurate and complete reports
  • Investigate criminal activity and take statements from suspects, victims, and witnesses
  • Evaluate reported offenses and provide surveillance
  • Prepare criminal case files and develop probable cause for arrest or search warrants
  • Appear in court as a witness and represent the Sheriff's Office in the community
  • Work closely with residents and community management to resolve problems
  • Speak to community groups and educate the public on law enforcement practices
  • Ensure the proper delivery of legal notices and serve individuals with summons, attachments, and other legal documents
Requirements
  • Completion of a secondary education or equivalent
  • Certification from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and clean criminal record
  • Ability to properly administer first aid and CPR
