The Small Engine Repair Technician plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality repairs on various equipment while maintaining accurate records for time, parts, and repairs. This position focuses on servicing small engines, particularly in lawn and garden machinery such as mowers, chainsaws, and handheld tools. The technician will independently conduct complex diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance tasks. A strong ability to interpret illustrated parts and maintenance manuals is essential, along with a commitment to safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently reconditions and repairs small equipment and components.
  • Keeps comprehensive and detailed records of time, parts, and supplies for invoicing purposes.
  • Accurately documents all product information, including serial and model numbers, for warranty claims.
  • Maintains and cares for shop tools and all company equipment.
  • Ensures a clean and organized work area.
  • Engages with customers and colleagues on a daily basis.
  • Prepares repaired units for delivery by cleaning them thoroughly.
  • Utilizes computer systems for parts lookup and retrieves necessary parts from inventory.
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude, safe work practices, and a solid understanding of equipment operations and mechanical functions. Possesses strong diagnostic skills, works independently, and is customer service-oriented.

Qualifications:

  • Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
  • Personal tool inventory is required.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair both 2-cycle and 4-cycle equipment.
  • Experience in repairing riding mowers, handheld tools, generators, pressure washers, and push mowers.
  • Proficient in using computers for parts lookup.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical capability to walk, stand, bend, and squat throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Certifications or willingness to obtain certifications from brands such as Husqvarna, Exmark, Stihl, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, and Kawasaki.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
  • Summer hours may include alternating Saturdays

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: Commission based on labor
