The role of a Registered Nurse at Cayuga Medical Center is an integral part of our collaborative interdisciplinary team dedicated to delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to the Tompkins County community. As a RN, you will have the opportunity to practice at your full scope of practice, engage in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and services to improve patient outcomes, and execute an optimal plan of care in a shared governance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients and families using a person-centered approach to quickly recognize deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status.
- Plan and evaluate patient care, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize care goals for both expected and unanticipated needs while involving patients and support persons.
- Demonstrate competence in implementing technical skills required for patient care and clinical documentation compliance, staying up-to-date on policies, procedures, and standards.
- Consider the interdisciplinary team as resources for interventions on care goals, including evidence-based practices.
- Be self-directed in assuming responsibilities within the team and care delivery system, assisting peers and teams with skills and behaviors for compassionate implementation of operations and standards of patient care.
- Licenses: Active New York Nursing license (out-of-state nurses are eligible to apply).
- Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (new hires can obtain these certifications during the introductory period).
- Graduate of an Accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions, and stooping and kneeling.
