Department: Detox | RN
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
Facility Details:
- Bed Capacity: Maximum of 20 patients.
- Nurse-Patient Ratios: Two RNs on duty, with additional support from an outpatient clinic RN for admission assessments.
- Required Experience: Candidates should possess strong MedSurg experience, particularly in assessing detox symptoms. While psychiatric experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. Phlebotomy skills and EKG experience are essential, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
Unit Operations:
- IV Administration: IVs are not typically administered on this unit; however, in emergencies, starting an IV may be necessary.
- Electronic Medical Records: Allscripts
- Charge Nurse Duties: One of the RNs will serve as the charge nurse and will also manage patient assignments. During business hours, a PCM is available on-site; after hours, support is accessible via phone.
Additional Information:
- Use of Physical Restraints: Not applicable; patients in severe DTs will be transferred.
- Support Staff: Two techs are present each shift.
- Respiratory Therapy: Not available on-site; RNs will perform EKGs as needed.
- Shift Schedule: 7 AM to 7 PM
- Weekend and Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and one major holiday during winter and summer.
Orientation: A comprehensive 5-day orientation on the unit will be provided.
