Job Description
This position will be responsible for utilizing advanced technical skills to review and report ambient air monitoring data from the statewide network in accordance with regulatory requirements of the Clean Air Act. You will work closely with our Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data generated by the statewide ambient air monitoring network.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the New Mexico Environment Department's ambient air data acquisition system and the Environmental Protection Agency's data management system to monitor, analyze, validate, and report ambient air criteria pollutants and quality assurance/quality control data
- Ensure the validity and completeness of data generated by the statewide ambient air monitoring network
- Review and document daily and weekly quality control checks to ensure conformance with acceptance criteria and regulatory requirements
- Communicate with site operators to document monitor malfunctions and data anomalies
- Maintain NMED's ambient air database by ensuring all data is complete and accurately flagged with appropriate informational or null codes
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Physical, Natural, or Environmental Science, Soil Science, or Engineering and five (5) years of work experience in public/environmental health, environmental science, Air Quality Management, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Hazardous Waste Management, Wildlife Management, and/or Water Resources. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
