Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at MedStar Health: Orthopedics at Alexandria. As an Outpatient Orthopedic Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and radiography services in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain patient history, and explain procedures to ensure a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Prepare exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Update the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system with patient information, including chief complaint, medications, allergies, and past medical history.
  • Take vital signs as per protocol or directed by physician, applying casts, splints, and braces as needed.
  • Prepare injections, process charges for orthopedic durable medical equipment, and maintain inventory levels.
  • Assist physicians with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments, supporting patient examination, testing, and education.
  • Label and maintain proper storage of specimens for tests, delivering results and performing quality control functions as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to gain their understanding and cooperation with radiographic testing, positioning patients correctly to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Take x-rays as ordered, following established procedures for patient care and safety, and maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years' work experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a high-volume outpatient setting.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) registration.
  • Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland, Virginia, and/or DC, depending on assigned work locations.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Orthopedic X-ray experience preferred.
  • Associate degree preferred.
