Responsibilities
The role of a Specialty Medical Assistant is to act as a Navigator for an assigned Provider, guiding patients through their healthcare journey in a high-acuity setting. This position is crucial due to the complexities involved in specialty care, particularly for patients undergoing critical interventions. The Specialty Medical Assistant is responsible for enhancing the clinical experience both before and after patient visits. This includes orienting patients to clinic procedures and preparing them for examinations and treatments. The role encompasses a variety of clinical functions that require advanced knowledge and the integration of care standards and resources.
QualificationsMinimum Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-acuity specialty environment, such as Pulmonology, Oncology, Hematology, Infusion, Maternal & Fetal Medicine, Neonatology, Gynecologic Oncology, Neurosurgery, Breast Surgery, or Pediatric Cardiology. Current BLS certification. Proficient in navigating medical record systems with advanced knowledge. Exceptional organizational and communication skills, along with demonstrated clinical expertise to support work in high-risk specialty areas. Preferred
