Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team at Avondale School District.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing speech and language services to students with a variety of disabilities, including ASD, SLD, EI, CI, VI, HI, PI, OHI, SLI, and ADHD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with speech and language disorders.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' strengths and weaknesses.
  • Provide direct and indirect services to students, including speech and language therapy sessions.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress.
  • Participate in staff development and training to stay current with best practices in speech and language therapy.
Requirements:
  • Current Michigan Certification with appropriate endorsement for teacher of speech and language.
  • ASHA certification.
  • Knowledge of special education law and regulations.
  • Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff members, students, parents, and the community.
Working Conditions:

The Speech and Language Pathologist will work in a school setting, providing services to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms, therapy rooms, and other locations as needed.

The successful candidate will be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds, and will be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

The work environment is frequently loud, and the employee will be exposed to fumes and airborne particles.

The employee will be required to work in outside weather and will be exposed to extreme temperatures.

The employee will be required to interact with the public and others, and will have direct responsibility for the safety and well-being of others.

The employee will be required to maintain confidentiality of school-related information.

The employee will be required to participate in and utilize information gained in appropriate staff development.

The employee will be required to demonstrate understanding of students' needs, and interact appropriately with students, parents, and staff.

The employee will be required to demonstrate initiative and creativity with individual children and their program implementations.

The employee will be required to maintain composure under stressful conditions.

The employee will be required to perform other duties as requested by the Administrator.
