Job Title: Insulator
Job Summary:
The Insulator will be responsible for applying insulating materials to various mechanical systems, including pipes and ductwork, to effectively manage and maintain temperature levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial machinery, pipes, ductwork, and other mechanical systems, such as heat exchangers and tanks, to control noise and temperature.
- Seal and finish insulated surfaces or access points using appropriate materials such as plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, and mastic.
- Assess the necessary amounts and types of insulation, as well as installation methods, based on factors like location and equipment usage.
- Shape and fit insulation around obstacles, ensuring proper coverage and protection.
- Install protective sheet metal around insulated pipes to safeguard insulation from environmental conditions and physical damage.
- Measure and cut insulation materials accurately using various tools.
- Prepare surfaces for insulation application by applying adhesives or attaching metal pins as needed.
- Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
- Select suitable insulation materials based on their thermal properties.
- Utilize blowers and hoses to distribute insulation evenly in confined spaces.
- Manage the filling of blower hoppers with insulating materials.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in industrial insulation.
- Preferred four (4) years of experience in power plant or maintenance roles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to complete hiring paperwork electronically.
- Capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess the strength and stamina to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to navigate confined spaces and uneven terrain.
- Full range of motion consistent with age.
- Capability to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
- Adequate hearing to respond to voice commands and alarms.
- Visual acuity and depth perception necessary for working at heights.
- Safety footwear is mandatory.
