Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a full-time Social Worker - MSW to join their UPMC Magee-Womens Pregnancy and Women's Recovery Center at UPMC Northwest. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive, coordinated, and compassionate care to women with substance use disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, utilizing harm reduction principles and empowering women to become leaders in their own recoveries.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and families to identify and address social determinants of health (SDOH) needs and goals.
  • Provide specialized and individualized education for patients, including information on federal, state, and local assistance programs and community resources.
  • Act as a mentor to social work students and/or serve as a field instructor to MSW students.
  • Utilize therapeutic counseling methods, such as crisis intervention, psychosocial support, brief goal-directed therapy, CISM, and other appropriate methods.
  • Document all social work interventions in the medical record, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Advocate on behalf of patients to obtain authorizations for continued care, as needed.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the plan of care, reassessing as necessary to meet the patient and family's needs.
Requirements
  • MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited School of Social Work.
  • Current/active Social Work License required or successful pass of the social work licensing exam within 9 months of employment.
  • Act 34 clearance.
