Job Title: Environmental Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Engineer to join our team at the State of Washington Department of Ecology. As an Environmental Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the protection of our state's water resources and ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to communities on Ecology requirements for engineering approval and financial assistance.
  • Review engineering documents, including general sewer plans, facility plans, engineering reports, and contract documents, to ensure they meet regulatory standards.
  • Draft permit and fact sheets for internal, entity, and public comment, and respond to comments and complete final permit for issuance.
  • Establish technology-based and water quality-based permit limits and related permit conditions.
  • Review, prepare comments, and recommend approval or denial of General Sewer Plans, Facility Plans/Engineering Reports, Plans and Specifications, Operations and Maintenance Manuals, Construction Quality Assurance Plans, and AKART evaluations.
Requirements:
  • Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • One year of experience in water and wastewater treatment as a Water/Wastewater Technician, Research Engineer, or related, including experience in conducting chemical analyses, designing and testing novel equipment, and preparing technical reports.

Wage Range:

$89,348 - $93,348 per year.
