Job Overview

Position Title: Licensed Nurse Midwife

Objective: The Licensed Nurse Midwife is responsible for delivering comprehensive healthcare services to women, encompassing preventive, gynecological, prenatal, and postpartum care. This role also includes providing clinical guidance to fellow healthcare professionals in the area of perinatal services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to evidence-based practice protocols and care standards.
  • Delivers direct healthcare services to women throughout their life stages.
  • Assesses and manages patients with gynecological, prenatal, and postpartum issues.
  • Offers family planning and contraceptive counseling.
  • Conducts initial newborn evaluations during the first post-delivery visit.
  • Facilitates referrals and consultations for patients requiring additional healthcare services.
  • Organizes group sessions for women's health education as necessary.
  • Coordinates with hospitals for scheduling necessary procedures.
  • Analyzes laboratory and ultrasound results, formulating care plans for any abnormalities.
  • Prescribes medications, providing guidance on usage and potential side effects.
  • Reviews patient records to ensure appropriate follow-up and education.
  • Accurately documents patient interactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Collaborates within a multidisciplinary team, including medical assistants and other healthcare specialists.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participates in clinic and specialty meetings as required.
  • Contributes to discussions on topics relevant to enhancing women's healthcare quality.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Education:

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited Nurse Midwifery Program.
  • Certification in Nurse Midwifery.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in Colorado.

Experience:

Prior experience as a nurse midwife in a clinical environment is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge in primary care practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the diverse needs of patients.
  • Capable of working independently while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Experience in collaborating with other healthcare providers to enhance care quality.
  • Ethical handling of sensitive information.
  • Proficient in computer software, including MS Office and EMR systems.
