About the Opportunity

DMI is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to support our Defense client. Our client is undergoing a modernization and consolidation of IT infrastructure, automation of workloads, and pursuit of next-generation innovation.

We require a Lead DevOps Engineer with experience in designing, developing, and implementing projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and the ability to customize them to enhance our client's security and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Build a strong relationship with development teams to understand code, dependencies, and infrastructure.
  2. Experience building cloud-based infrastructure solutions in AWS with a strong governance model.
  3. Work with development teams to deploy and manage tools supporting SDLC automation, configuration management, and release management.
  4. Design and implement CI/CD pipelines automating all aspects of building, testing, deploying, and monitoring applications in AWS.
  5. Lead a small team of engineers, distribute tasks, and support the project.
  6. Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
  7. Maintain technical system documentation for audits and compliance.
  8. Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to team members to build cloud competencies.
  9. Stay informed of industry white papers and best practices.
  10. Collaborate with project teams to create and participate in customer briefings.
  11. Ability to facilitate customer briefings, including preparing materials and presentations.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree in business, information technology, computer science, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  2. 10+ years of experience working in a DevOps environment.
  3. 5+ years of experience with containers on AWS, including ECS, EKS, and/or Fargate.
Required and Desired Skills/Certifications:
  1. Required AWS Certification (e.g., Cloud Architect Associate, DevOps Engineer, Developer).
  2. Required DoD 8140 / DoD 870 IAT Level 2 Certification.
  3. Desired DoD 8140 / DoD 870 IASAE Level 1 Certification (e.g., CSSLP).
  4. Expertise with source code management tools such as Git and GitLab.
  5. Ability to define and build scalable CI/CD pipelines.
  6. Understanding of software architecture and mapping into deployment pipelines.
  7. Proficiency with small team management and task assignment.
  8. Proficiency with the AWS Console, CLI, and SDK.
  9. Proficiency with AWS Migrations.
  10. Proficiency in cross-platform scripting languages (Python, Bash, JavaScript, Ruby).
  11. Proficiency with DevOps build tools, including Maven, Gradle, Ant.
  12. Experience deploying and administering continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, TFS, GitLab, GitHub, or Bamboo.
  13. Experience with infrastructure as code tools, such as Cloud Formation, Terraform, CDK.
  14. Proficiency with at least one technology language, such as Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, or Python.
  15. Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Java or C#.
  16. Knowledge of security and performance best practices for cloud architectures.
  17. Understanding of deployment strategies for containerization.
  18. Skilled with Agile software development methodologies.
  19. Strong understanding of network and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, and HTTP.
  20. Ability to independently investigate, troubleshoot, design, and develop solutions.
  21. Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of architects, developers, business analysts, quality assurance testers, and subject matter experts.
  22. Detail-oriented and extremely efficient.
  23. Strong written and oral communication skills to interact with business and technology teams.
  24. Strong understanding and experience operating in an agile development environment.
