Job Title: Swim Team Coach

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Swim Team Coach to join our team at JCC Greater Boston. As a Swim Team Coach, you will be responsible for leading and developing our swim team, providing coaching and guidance to our athletes, and working closely with our aquatics staff to promote the club as a whole.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective coaching plans to improve athlete performance and technique.
  • Lead and motivate our swim team to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
  • Work closely with our aquatics staff to promote the club and develop recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Participate in weekend swim meets and attend coach's meetings as required.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve athlete development and skill acquisition.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and athletes to ensure education and communication on all aspects of long-term athletic development.
  • Teach supplemental private lessons to swim team members.
Requirements:
  • Current/valid American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, with CPR, AED and First Aid.
  • USA Swimming Coaches Certification or ability to obtain coaches certification within the first 14 days of hire.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong, effective teaching/communication skills.
  • Stroke and skill techniques as well as dryland training/technique.
  • Coaching experience with athletes of all ages, including the development of season/workout plans.
  • Ability to maintain good membership standing with USA Swimming and New England Swimming.
  • Ability to communicate with community members and coworkers in person effectively, over email, and on the phone.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to see, hear, and cognitively recognize situations requiring lifeguarding services.
  • Ability to work in a high temperature and high humidity environment for extended periods while wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to make safety-related decisions.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English. Able to follow set instructions for the swimming program.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel.
  • Ability to swim at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to read routine and technical documents, use a computer, and answer a telephone.
