LPN/RN Unit Manager Job Opportunity

Midtown Center for Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a skilled LPN/RN Unit Manager to join our team. As a key member of our nursing department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to our residents and leading a team of dedicated healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor facility clinical systems to ensure quality resident care in accordance with laws, regulations, and facility guidelines.
  • Deliver basic nursing care to residents under the guidance of a physician.
  • Direct and develop RNs, LPNs, and CNAs to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and services.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of residents to identify care needs and make necessary revisions to care plans.
  • Work with the ADON and DON to resolve grievances or concerns related to resident care or family issues.
  • Document interventions and resident or family education efforts in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct rounds within the nursing department to assess resident conditions and clinical practices.
  • Accurately document nursing care notes in resident charts in a timely manner.
  • Perform medication administration and IV duties in accordance with the care plan as ordered by a physician.
  • Monitor progress of residents and make suggestions regarding treatment plans to meet their care needs.
  • Observe resident behavior, vital signs, symptoms, responses to treatment, and report findings to nursing supervisors.
  • Complete resident incident reports upon identifying changes in the condition of residents.
  • Monitor residents' skin to identify the risk of pressure sores.
  • Responsible for a wide variety of nursing administrative duties.
  • Place medication and refill orders with the resident pharmacies as needed.
  • Take inventory of narcotics and monitor emergency kits.
  • Perform shift change reports with the previous shift nurses and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Understand and follow proper procedures for admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
  • May assist in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of qualified team members for the Nursing Department.
  • Provide expectations and monitor performance of specific nursing staff.
  • Delegate assignments and provide overall supervision to RNs, LPNs, and CNAs on the nursing unit.
  • Effectively communicate guidelines and on-the-job training and procedures to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, Restorative Aides, residents, families, and physicians.
  • Provide overall supervision for timely responses to call lights; respond personally as needed.
  • Assist in promoting a team environment through effectively communicating praise and recognition with the RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
  • Nursing Unit Manager monitors schedule adherence of staff for lunch and rest breaks, beginning and ending of shifts, and overtime.
  • Monitor job performance of RNs, LPNs, and CNAs and provide corrective action as needed.
Requirements:
  • Current LPN or RN license in the state.
  • Up-to-date first aid and CPR certification.
  • At least one year of experience as a LPN or RN in a Long Term Care setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Matrixcare preferred.
