Operating Room Nurse

Position Overview:
The Operating Room Nurse is a vital member of the surgical team, possessing expertise in Perioperative Nursing. This role adheres to the standards and protocols established by regulatory agencies and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care utilizing the nursing process, grounded in theoretical knowledge, research, and evidence-based practices.
- Evaluate and assess patient care requirements, employing critical thinking in managing patient care.
- Conduct thorough patient interviews and clearly communicate policies and procedures to patients and their families.
- Review patient records and respond to inquiries accurately and courteously.
- Assess various health statuses, including gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological, while adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Evaluate pain levels and manage pain effectively, documenting the patient's physiological status and care plan.
- Assess psychosocial health, gathering insights on patient perceptions of care and expectations.
- Perform scrub and circulating duties in the operating room as required.
1. A valid New York State license and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
2. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or must be obtained during facility orientation.
Note:
For specific roles in Post-Acute Care, candidates who have graduated from a nursing education program recognized by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) may be considered for employment under the supervision of a licensed RN for a limited period.
