Key Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practitioner, you will engage in the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This process is dynamic and can be adjusted at any stage.
  • Assessment: You will systematically gather and analyze healthcare consumer data, including psychological, physiological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors. You will contribute to the initial assessment conducted by the RN and may also perform re-assessments.
  • Planning: You will establish measurable and attainable short and long-term objectives in accordance with care standards based on the RN's assessment, collaborating with the healthcare consumer and the multidisciplinary team to develop and modify care plans.
  • Implementation: You will execute and/or adjust the care plan utilizing assessment data and clinical reasoning, adhering to evidence-based practices. This includes care coordination, education, and discharge planning, with accountability for the care provided directly or through delegation, while following professional and legal standards.
  • Evaluation: You will continuously evaluate progress towards established healthcare consumer goals, revising the care plan as necessary in collaboration with the healthcare consumer and the multidisciplinary team.
  • You will document all stages of the nursing process in the healthcare consumer's record.
  • You will demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth, maintaining a safe working environment and fostering a collaborative atmosphere that supports the nursing profession.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Completion of an accredited LPN nursing program.
  • Current LPN licensure in the State of Iowa or through a nurse licensure compact.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support from an acceptable credentialing body, such as the American Heart Association.
  • Completion of an IV therapy course within one year of employment.
