• Specimen Collection: Execute blood draws and other specimen collections with precision, ensuring proper labeling and handling.
• Specimen Management: Collect and store samples in accordance with established protocols, maintaining the integrity of each specimen.
• Patient Interaction: Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other collection methods to patients.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate expertise in using various needle types, including straight and butterfly needles.
• Order Compliance: Thoroughly understand and follow all physician orders related to specimen collection.
• Requisition Accuracy: Ensure that laboratory requisition forms are accurately matched with specimen tubes.
• Specimen Preparation: Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as dictated by testing requirements.
• Quality Assurance: Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure complete accuracy.
• Transport Readiness: Package specimens appropriately for transport, adhering to all safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Storage Compliance: Store samples at required temperatures and in suitable containers, ensuring accurate labeling and adherence to transport protocols.
• Regulatory Adherence: Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
