Hobbing and Shaper Machinist

The United Stars Holdings, Inc. is seeking a skilled Hobbing and Shaper Operator to join our team. As a key member of our production department, you will be responsible for the manufacture of parts per plant specifications in an accurate and timely manner.

1. Machine Setup and Operation: Set up, edit, and operate CNC Hobbers/manual Hobbers and manual Shapers to produce high-quality parts.
2. Quality Control: Inspect completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
3. Work Area Maintenance: Clean the work area and remove tooling, fixturing, and return inspection equipment to their proper areas.
4. Minor Machine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as greasing and oiling, to ensure the smooth operation of equipment.

• Proficiency in Measuring Instruments: Must be proficient in using hand measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gages, and optical comparators.
• Blueprint Reading and Understanding: Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings.
• Programming and Adjustments: Ability to operate, adjust offsets, and set up experience is preferred but not necessary.
• Mathematical Skills: Requires mathematical skills that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as the ability to perform metric conversions.
• Communication Skills: Must possess good oral and written communication skills to interact with employees.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to check size over pins and possess a good mechanical aptitude, with prior machinist experience a plus.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use foot/feet to operate machine, reach above shoulders, and move from place to place. The incumbent will regularly stand, sit, and talk and listen and will frequently use hands to finger, handle, or touch. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 25 pounds, such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of the work area.
