Job Summary

The Manufacturing Welder is responsible for weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture products according to drawings, specifications, and other forms of instruction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Weld and fabricate pipe products and other plate/tubular products.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, and grind component parts.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment and materials.
  • Examine work for defects.
  • Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Use the guiding principles and tools of the Manufacturing System to drive continuous improvement, wherever applicable.
  • Manage all Work Orders associated with fabrication.
  • Ensure timeliness, safety, and quality of material movement.
  • Commitment to the concept of continual improvement and effective quality management systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow product specification instructions.
  • Understand the production and Work Order process.
  • Work independently and suggest solutions through MOC requests and appropriate chains of command.
  • Be willing to participate in other manufacturing activities when there are no welding work orders, including, but not limited to: pipe-fitting activities, performing a variety of plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry functions, assemble, install, maintain, and repair equipment such as chillers, pumps, closed vats, and other large vessels or containers that hold liquids and gases.
  • Exhibit professionalism in dealing with others and maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Considerable judgment required to plan and perform unusual and difficult work where only general methods are available.
  • Able to handle multi-task situations and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and materials handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform technical duties on functional work group projects.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints and submittals.
  • Ensure all quality requirements are met and that required quality documentation is properly completed.
  • Employ test techniques and procedures for key cell projects.
  • Use job packets, routings, work orders, wire lists, quality travelers, and bills of material.
  • Use hand and machine tools as necessary.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of pipe or structural fabrication experience.
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
  • Adhere to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer E-mail and other basic use programs.
  • Knowledge and ability to assemble, install, maintain, and repair equipment such as chillers, pumps, closed vats, and other large vessels or containers that hold liquids and gases.
  • Knowledge of P&ID diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAP Experience.
  • Welding certificate or degree.
