Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced House Supervisor RN to join our team at Bryan Health. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for modeling the core values of our organization and serving as a resource person to staff, both clinically and administratively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent and support management, supervising staff and making administrative decisions that may involve patients and their families and KRMC staff.
  • Maintain a global perspective as a basis for decision making, coordinating the utilization of resources, including staff and equipment.
  • Enhance quality of care by acting as a consultant and mentor for patients at the bedside, providing feedback to management regarding staff and clinical situations as necessary.
  • Contribute to an environment that promotes staff empowerment, working closely with the Charge Nurse to manage and prioritize the room placement of patients admitted at KRMC.
  • Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques, educating patients and families regarding pain management.
  • Continuously readjust and evaluate staffing to meet care needs during the assigned shift, interacting with department directors/managers and physicians on a wide range of issues.
  • Maintain a global perspective to meet and coordinate the needs of various departments, communicating daily with care management regarding admissions and dismissals to various units.
  • Consult with other departments as needed and appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient/facility's needs.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by downsizing or upsizing staffing in a budget-conscious manner that ensures the maintenance of safe patient care.
  • Assure that staff has the appropriate tools to provide care, providing supplies in the absence of 24-hour departments.
  • Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful conditions, identifying changes in patients' physical symptoms and taking appropriate action in a timely manner.
  • Counsel and manage personnel issues, but not appraisals in the absence of management, maintaining a good working relationship and effective communication with many departments for the benefit of the patient.
  • Step in to fill gaps in staffing as needed, recognizing and managing impaired staffing behaviors in the absence of management, balancing the staffing needs between units.
  • Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required, and good judgment, notifying administration of issues beyond the scope of the House Supervisor requiring further investigation.
  • Utilize initiative, strive to maintain a steady level of productivity, and be a self-starter, compatible and supportive, a team player.
  • Screen patients by comparing patients' conditions to admission criteria, evaluating and accepting or rejecting patients, referring patients and families to other programs and institutions, and appropriately placing patients.
  • Resolve patient/family dissatisfactions by investigating concerns, recommending changes in service policies and procedures.
  • Become trained in ultrasound-guided IV placement.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • BSN or current enrollment in BSN program preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Nebraska.
  • Current ACLS and BCLS certification.
  • PALS certification within 1 year of employment.
  • At least two (2) years of charge nurse experience preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in critical care nursing preferred.
