Job Description

Job Title: Academic Faculty Position - Vocational Nursing

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Academic Faculty Member to join our Vocational Nursing Program at Tyler Junior College. As a key member of our faculty team, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the field of Vocational Nursing, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of our program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Mentoring: Prepare and deliver high-quality Vocational Nursing coursework to a diverse student population, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of students and the standards of the discipline.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Participate in the development and implementation of our Vocational Nursing program, including curriculum review and revision, program review and evaluation, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Student Evaluation and Progression: Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Clinical Supervision: Supervise students in the clinical setting, evaluate their performance, and establish competence before allowing them to perform nursing procedures without direct faculty supervision.
  • Departmental Responsibilities: Participate in departmental governance, including serving on committees, councils, and work groups, and contributing to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing, Master's degree in nursing or higher preferred.
  • Experience: Three years of varied nursing experience as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of three years of active employment in nursing.
  • Credentials: Current license or privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.
