Unlock Your Potential as an Architectural Historian

Kleinfelder is seeking a skilled Architectural Historian to join our cultural resources team. As a key member of our team, you will lead project compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, identifying and evaluating historic buildings, structures, and districts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct architectural history field surveys and complete resource inventory forms and reports
  • Lead the completion of National Register nominations, Historic American Building Record/Historic American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER) documentation, interpretive panels, and traveling exhibits
  • Collaborate with state and federal agencies to ensure project review and compliance
  • Travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic/Midwest regions, with occasional travel outside these areas
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in historic preservation, architectural history, history, or a related field
  • Master's degree in Historic Preservation, Public History, or a related field
  • Meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural History
  • Experience working with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
  • Knowledge of regional architectural forms, styles, trends, and historic contexts
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize concurrent projects
  • Experience completing National Register of Historic Places nominations
