Position Overview

DPR Construction is looking for a Project Engineer with 2-5 years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) within the commercial construction sector.

The Project Engineer will engage in commercial projects across our primary sectors:
Healthcare, Higher Education, Advanced Technology, Life Sciences, and Commercial.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide construction support for MEP systems.
  • Implement and adhere to DPR's Environmental Health and Safety Plan to maintain a safe work environment, including conducting weekly safety audits.
  • Understand and enforce contracts between DPR and subcontractors.
  • Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager in executing DPR's policies and project implementation.
  • Organize the responsibilities of other engineers, field office coordinators, project accountants, and assigned project staff, providing direction and prioritization.
  • Participate in training sessions and company meetings to promote individual and organizational growth.
  • Organize and maintain electronic project files for easy access by the project team.
  • Prepare, monitor, and update project schedules, collaborating with the Superintendent to mitigate project constraints.
  • Manage various document control processes, including daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs.
  • Distribute updated drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other relevant project information to all stakeholders.
  • Prepare agendas, documents, meeting minutes, and action items for various meetings, including Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and staff meetings.
  • Monitor testing and inspection records, safety inspection logs, and building permit inspections.

Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
  • Organized work approach with the ability to adapt to project needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of assigned project scopes with a hands-on approach.
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving construction issues during design and construction phases.
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on coordinating and resolving project challenges within the team.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Adept at identifying and addressing complex issues.
  • Effective team player in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (CMiC, Prolog or similar), scheduling software (Primavera or similar), and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or similar).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer, preferably in DPR's core markets.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • A strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a passion for the construction industry.
