Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Plant Operations Specialist to join our team at Cabot Corporation. This role is responsible for providing technical support and driving continuous improvements in manufacturing capability, capacity, and productivity at the site to ensure safe and optimal process utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in plant performance to optimize product volume, yields, and quality.

  • Provide technical advice and support to resolve unusual problems, utilizing statistical techniques to improve process capability and failure analysis methodology to upgrade or implement process improvements.

  • Oversee plant mechanical integrity program by investigating equipment problems and eliminating recurrence of failures that will improve plant performance and reliability.

  • Lead the review of preventive maintenance plans to ensure optimum scheduling and predict maintenance needs to maximize safety and reliability and reduce downtime.

  • Assist in the design, procurement, and installation of new equipment, developing plant-wide standard operating procedures for process and equipment operation.

  • Conduct “end-of-life” assessments making recommendations for equipment repairs and replacements, and assist with equipment repairs of stationary and rotating equipment by working with original equipment manufacturers, after-market suppliers, and outside repair shops.

  • Lead production planning and execution of tolled product materials, including monitoring supply/demand status, raw material inventory/ordering, and coordinating final product receipt and required product finishing steps.

  • Monitor and manage toll products and providers for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of product delivered.

  • Serve as Process Safety Management (PSM) custodian at the plant in coordination with regional PSM representative in the evaluation of manufacturing process-related risks and incidents, participating in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) for key production/capital projects.

  • Evaluate and implement all product and process changes in line with appropriate Management of Change (MOC) principles, providing training as required to manufacturing personnel in relevant manufacturing processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor/University degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Chemical Manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of Chemical Manufacturing; process and product technology; engineering principles; mechanical and instrumentation systems; calibration and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) methodology and reliability analysis tools.

  • Knowledge in areas such as confined space entry, lockout / tag-out, hot-work permitting, etc.

  • Analytical and diagnostic skills.

  • Project management skills.
