Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Evaluation
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in students.
    • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to develop a thorough understanding of each student's communication abilities and challenges.
  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
    • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the educational team, including teachers, school counselors, and parents.
    • Set clear, achievable goals for each student's speech and language development and create tailored intervention strategies to meet those goals.
  • Therapeutic Interventions
    • Provide direct therapy services to students to address articulation, language comprehension, expressive language, fluency, and social communication skills.
    • Use evidence-based practices and customized therapeutic activities to address individual needs and enhance classroom engagement.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork
    • Work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to integrate therapy goals into daily classroom activities and support students' communication needs.

  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports for IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school evaluations, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Family and Community Engagement
    • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies to support communication development at home.
    • Participate in school and community events to raise awareness of speech and language development and advocate for students' needs.
  • Professional Development
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in speech-language pathology.
    • Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure
    • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Georgia.
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.
  • Experience
    • Previous experience in a school setting or with children is highly desirable.
    • New graduates with strong clinical training and a passion for working in educational environments are also encouraged to apply.
  • Skills and Attributes
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
