General Summary of Responsibilities

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for a range of tasks that ensure the effective operation of the Engineering Department, supporting all other functional areas. Our establishment operates continuously, and flexibility in scheduling and duties is essential to meet the demands of our hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional service to guests, consistently aiming to exceed their expectations.
  • Perform various maintenance tasks including carpentry, plumbing, and painting, while proficiently using hand and power tools.
  • Interpret and execute blueprints, schematics, and operational instructions.
  • Complete work orders and may oversee or train other maintenance personnel.
  • Identify malfunctions, disassemble and repair equipment, and install necessary components.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained properly and securely.
  • Conduct structural repairs on masonry, woodwork, and furnishings, including painting and flooring tasks.
  • Manage electrical and plumbing tasks, including conduit bending, drain cleaning, and fixture replacement.
  • Inspect and maintain exterior and public area lighting daily, ensuring an adequate supply of spare parts.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in line with company standards.
  • Promote energy conservation practices.
  • Safeguard guest and hotel information and materials.
  • Complete all assigned preventive maintenance tasks punctually.
  • Maintain high inspection and audit scores.
  • Respond promptly to all communication requests.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a secure environment for guests and staff.
  • Utilize chemicals safely, following proper labeling and handling procedures.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or suspicious activities to management.
  • Lift and move items up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 100 lbs occasionally with assistance.
  • Engage in various physical activities including standing, walking, and climbing as required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • Coordinate with vendors for maintenance services and monitor their performance.
  • Wear the designated uniform and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, team members, and management, addressing any concerns professionally.
  • Foster a positive team environment and uphold morale.
  • Stay informed about hotel operations, services, and local amenities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and hygiene.
  • Exhibit flexibility in job functions and be willing to assist in other areas as needed.
  • Handle equipment and supplies responsibly to minimize waste.
  • Deliver on the brand promise by providing friendly and professional service consistently.
  • Understand and adhere to the company’s Team Member Handbook and regulations.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Accept constructive feedback positively and maintain regular attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or handyman roles, preferably in a hotel or large facility.

  • Identification to verify the right to work in the United States.
