Job Summary:

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a highly skilled Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the Medical Center to prevent and deter crime, and to provide a visible presence to promote a sense of security.
  • Provide education and training to staff, patients, and visitors on security procedures and best practices to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of crime.
  • Conduct thorough and efficient investigations of any incidents or suspicious activity, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist medical personnel in maintaining and delivering patient care, and provide support to family members as needed.
  • Be available for variable shifts, rotations, or short notice call for emergency response.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License and insurability.
  • No local, state, or federal criminal record.
  • New York State Security 8 Hour Pre-assignment Certificate or current registration as a NY State Security Guard preferred.
  • Eligibility to register as a NY State Security Officer upon hiring.
  • Prior experience working with the general public or in a related field preferred.
  • Prior CPR/BLS certification preferred; current EMT certification a plus.
  • Ability to successfully complete Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations (PMCS) training within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Personal vehicle for on-the-job transportation required.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • Exercise good judgment in reacting to emergency situations.
  • Ability to read, write well, and maintain neat and accurate shift reports and logs.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, agree to adhere to, and sign the Security Department Code of Ethics.
