Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Specialist II to join our team at UW Health. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for accurately assigning codes to patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining a high level of coding accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize encoder, grouper software, and other coding resources to determine the appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI), Local Coverage Documents, and National Coverage Documents (LCD/NCD) directives.
  • Apply knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and institutional guidelines to select appropriate codes and modifiers.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education required.
  • Active coding certification required (CPC, COC, CIC, CCS, CCS-P, or CCA).
  • 1 year of progressive coding experience required.
  • 2 years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties, HCC Risk adjustment Coding preferred.
