Job Summary:

The Medical Support Assistant at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital plays a vital role in supporting patient and unit flow as part of the Nursing team. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.

About the Role:
This position is responsible for setting up rooms for new admission and post-op patients, performing accucheck controls when indicated, making beds, distributing meal trays, and maintaining a clean environment in patient rooms. Additionally, this role involves performing vital signs as scheduled on patients, charting results, and reporting any changes to the Nursing staff. Other duties include providing clean linen and fresh water to patients, assisting with wound care, and assisting PT/OT with patient transfers and ambulating.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up rooms for new admission and post-op patients.
  • Perform accucheck controls when indicated.
  • Make beds and distribute meal trays and maintain a clean environment in patient rooms.
  • Perform vital signs as scheduled on patients, chart results, and report any changes to the Nursing staff.
  • Provide clean linen and fresh water to patients.
  • Assist with wound care.
  • Assist PT/OT with patient transfers and ambulating.
  • Answer patient call lights throughout the day and alert Nursing Staff of patient needs.

Requirements:
This position requires a high school diploma, New Hampshire LNA license, and one year of previous experience as an LNA in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. A BCLS certification is preferred upon hire and required within 30 days of hire.
