We are seeking a skilled Practical Nurse to join our team at West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc. in a part-time, day shift role.
About the Role:As a Practical Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care based on the principles and practices of Practical Nursing, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your role will involve providing direct patient care, observing and recording patient concerns, and contributing to the nursing assessment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care, as outlined in the patient's plan of care and/or as directed by the Registered Nurse, to promote comfort and/or return to functional health for the patient.
- Provide direct patient care to all assigned patients to promote comfort & hygiene according to a timely manner.
- Perform designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
- Accurately observe, record and report to the Registered Nurse, all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress in a timely manner.
- Assist physicians and the Registered Nurse with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
- Utilize available supplies in a cost-effective manner to help contain patient costs.
- Contribute to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner.
- Observe the condition or change in condition of the patient, record signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status and report findings to the Registered Nurse.
- Participate in the development of the patient's plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.
- Assist in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the Registered Nurse and following the teaching plan.
- Document nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team.
- Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a practical nurse.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- West Virginia state criminal background check required, and Federal, if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area.
