At Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled Prosthetics Resident to join our team. As a key member of our orthotics and prosthetics department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support. The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on location and experience.

The primary responsibility of the Prosthetics Resident is to integrate their patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up, and practice management skills for individuals in need of prosthetic management. You will work closely with a physician prescription and under the supervision of a Clinical Preceptor/Mentor who has expertise in the field of Prosthetics.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of your license, certification or registration, and as required by law and regulation.
  • Assess patients with impairment of human movement or musculoskeletal abnormalities to determine a functional intervention.
  • Formulate a treatment plan, working with other healthcare providers as prescribed by the referring physician, based on a comprehensive assessment to design an intervention to alleviate limitations and enhance function.
  • Implement the prosthetic treatment plan.
  • Produce prosthetic devices as prescribed by the referring physician.
  • Utilize a follow-up treatment plan to ensure successful prosthetic outcomes.
  • Comply with practice management plans to develop and document policies and procedures to ensure patient protection, including adherence to applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Other Job Responsibilities:
  • Participate in a program of continuing education.
  • Complete Certification requirements (if necessary) within a reasonable period of time.

Customer Service Responsibilities:

Responsibilities in Quality Improvement:

Contribute by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promote patient/family satisfaction where possible and participate in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service.

Essential Job Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in Orthotics and Prosthetics from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited program.
  • Ability to interact with patients and physicians.
  • Ability to use tools and fabricate independently.

  • Walking, standing for the majority of the time.
  • Sitting periodically.
