Substance Abuse Counselor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at Management and Training Corporation. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a critical role in helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve a healthier lifestyle.

The Substance Abuse Counselor will be responsible for implementing and maintaining an effective alcohol and other drug abuse program, with a focus on awareness, prevention, and staff training. This position will also involve assessing inmates with identified substance abuse problems, developing and implementing plans to modify or control behavior, and providing ongoing comprehensive training for staff members.

• Develop and implement a system to promote the coordination and integration of substance abuse prevention components with other facility programs.
• Assess inmates with identified substance abuse problems and develop plans to modify or control behavior.
• Provide ongoing comprehensive training for staff members in the substance abuse area.
• Conduct substance abuse and tobacco cessation classes, group educational, peer support, and other prevention sessions for inmates and staff.
• Encourage awareness of substance abuse issues throughout the facility.
• Develop linkages with community resources for substance abuse services.

• Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, criminology, or a related field.
• Two years of substance abuse treatment experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record required.
