Position Overview:

The Sales Team Leader plays a pivotal role in enhancing both colleague and customer experiences on the sales floor. The primary focus of the Sales Team Leader is to boost sales and cultivate customer relationships by training, mentoring, and developing a team of associates. A successful Sales Team Leader is genuinely passionate about people, whether it involves recruiting, onboarding, or ensuring that customers receive an exceptional shopping experience. Additionally, the Sales Team Leader will spearhead initiatives aimed at increasing sales and customer loyalty while upholding Bloomingdale's standards for service excellence.
A Sales Team Leader oversees a significant segment of the store's business, often managing a specific product category with a moderate span of control. In today's dynamic retail landscape, our leaders must be adaptable and responsive, supporting sales outcomes, merchandising standards, and ensuring timely fulfillment of customer orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and surpass sales targets by observing, coaching, and exemplifying customer-focused selling behaviors while fostering a welcoming shopping atmosphere for all customers.
  • Lead customer service initiatives within the store, ensuring that associates engage with customers and create a friendly, easy-to-navigate shopping environment.
  • Promote and advocate for the use of sales technology to facilitate a seamless customer experience.
  • Educate the team on relationship selling, developing a client portfolio, and executing outreach strategies to maximize business potential.
  • Collaborate with the Business Sales Manager and Visual Merchandise Manager to implement merchandising strategies effectively.
  • Ensure all necessary restocking, floor adjustments, and signage updates are completed efficiently.
  • Oversee the fulfillment process daily, tracking metrics to ensure optimal fill rates.
  • Attract, recruit, train, mentor, evaluate, and manage an average of 10 direct reports to meet or exceed performance expectations.

Qualifications:

An Associate's Degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience are required.

3-5 years of related experience, including:

  • Effective communication and presentation skills in both one-on-one and small group settings with customers and various levels of internal and external partners.
  • Ability to strategically plan and execute initiatives.
  • Capability to monitor and adjust workflow to achieve priorities.
  • Flexibility to work retail hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in drafting reports and communications, presenting effectively to management and stakeholders, and interpreting instructional documents such as safety guidelines and operational manuals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, hear, talk, reach with extended arms, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment.
  • Requires close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs. regularly.
