Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will play a critical role in conducting nocturnal polysomnograms, initiating nasal CPAP, and scoring all types of tests performed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather materials and set up equipment for tests, ensuring AASM standards are met.
  • Discuss test procedures with patients, answer questions, and instruct on PAP therapy use.
  • Prepare patients for tests by applying electrodes and ancillary equipment, calibrate machines, and monitor patients during testing.
  • Adjust and troubleshoot equipment as needed, contact physicians in emergency situations, and score polygraphic records.
  • Clean equipment, maintain stock levels, and collect urine samples for laboratory analysis (as needed).
  • Assist in training new personnel, answer phones, and schedule patients for test procedures.
  • Maintain current BLS/CPR and sleep certifications, acquire 10 CECs per year for sleep center accreditation, and participate in interviews for new hire employees.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Twelve to eighteen months of related experience preferred.
  • Board certification from the BRPT or ABSM required.
  • Colleagues not registered or CRPSGTs at the time of hire must pass the board examination within 18 months.
Skills and Abilities
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and departmental personnel.
  • Analytical skills for observing and evaluating patients during testing and treatments.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail, walk, stand, and lift equipment (approximately 25% of work time).
