Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Hearing Specialist at Kaiser Permanente, you will be responsible for conducting diagnostic evaluations of the auditory and vestibular systems. You will assess the neurological status of adults and children, provide direction and counseling, and make recommendations for the rehabilitation of hearing-impaired patients. You will also determine whether severely hearing-impaired patients are candidates for cochlear implant surgery. This role requires upholding Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Select, perform, and interpret diagnostic test data for pediatric and geriatric populations, vestibular function, and facial nerve integrity.
  • Counsel patients and inform them of future therapeutic plans.
  • Provide mobile diagnostic services for inpatients, ICU, NICU, and operative patients.
  • Perform evaluations, assessments, and referrals for hearing aids.
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive records in patients' medical charts and department-based files.
  • Perform daily equipment biological calibrations, maintain equipment, and initiate requests for repair.
  • Instruct monthly patient education classes.
  • Assist families with placement into appropriate education settings for hearing-impaired children.
  • Serve as a resource for hearing and vestibular assessment (and rehabilitation) to physicians, paraprofessionals, and patients regarding hearing health diagnostics and care.
  • Maintain professional competency.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Audiology required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Basic Life Support required at hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of experience as an Audiologist preferred.
Work Environment:

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with variable hours, supporting all Riverside Service areas, Murrieta, and Moreno Valley. The primary location is California, Riverside, with a scheduled weekly hour of 1. The job schedule is Per Diem, and the job type is Standard. The worker location is Onsite, and the employee status is Regular. The employee group/union affiliation is B17-DASH|AFSCME|DASH, and the job level is Individual Contributor. The department is Riverside Med Center - Head and Neck-Audiology - 0806, and the pay range is $56.52 - $62.67 per hour.
