Principal Launch Engineering Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and multi-faceted engineer to join our Launch Community, focusing on specialized engineering responsibilities. This role encompasses a variety of tasks, including but not limited to anomaly analysis, project studies, and serving as a task leader. The successful candidate will leverage extensive technical knowledge and possess a comprehensive understanding of related engineering disciplines.
Assignments will be provided in the form of objectives, with the expectation to establish and pursue goals that align with these objectives. The individual will offer guidance to team members to ensure the successful achievement of goals, adhering to established organizational policies. Performance will be evaluated based on the attainment of objectives and adherence to schedules.
The role requires the ability to recommend and implement policy changes that impact subordinate teams. The engineer will develop innovative technical solutions to complex challenges, utilizing creativity and ingenuity regularly.
This position allows for a significant degree of autonomy in determining the technical direction of assignments. Completed work will be assessed from a long-term perspective to ensure desired outcomes are achieved. The engineer will exercise sound judgment in selecting appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve results.
Additionally, the engineer will play a pivotal role in guiding the successful execution of major programs. Inaccurate decisions or recommendations could lead to significant setbacks in achieving organizational goals.
The individual will also serve as the primary technical liaison for contracts and projects, engaging with senior external stakeholders on critical technical issues that often necessitate inter-organizational coordination.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of nine years of relevant experience is required. Alternatively, six years of additional experience in the Launch community may substitute for the degree.
- Proven leadership experience within the Launch Community is essential.
- A solid understanding of launch policies, procedures, and protocols is necessary.
- Must possess TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
SAIC continuously accepts applications, and there is no specified deadline.
