Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at New Story School. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing academic instruction and support to students with special needs, including those with autism spectrum disorder and behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement appropriate services and support strategies.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to staff within the classroom to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Evaluate and assess student mastery of content to inform instructional decisions and drive student progress.
  • Communicate student achievements and progress to students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to agency policies and regulations.
Requirements
  • Virginia Department of Education License or License Eligible
  • Three (3) years teaching experience working with children with behavior/learning disorders is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • A positive can-do attitude
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License is preferred
