Job Summary

The Senior Airworthiness Inspector is a critical member of the Quality Assurance team at General Dynamics, responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft and components. This role requires a high level of expertise in Federal Aviation Regulations, FAA forms and documents, and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct quality control inspections on aircraft and components to ensure conformity to FAA-approved data
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and inspection requirements on aircraft during maintenance or outfitting
  • Keep accurate, neat, and legible records of work performed on aircraft and components
  • Coordinate throughout assigned jobs with RTS to ensure accurate aircraft records are produced in a timely manner
  • Conduct audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completion on all aircraft prior to approval for return to service
  • Ensure aircraft and components are airworthy prior to any flight activities
  • Mentor technicians on effective documentation
  • Accomplish research of Aircraft Log Books and computer maintenance programs to identify ongoing inspection programs, status of aircraft within those programs, Airworthiness Directive status, and Service Bulletin status
  • Continually monitor repair station compliance with FAR Part 145 and the FAA accepted site Repair Station and Quality Control Manual
  • Assist leads and supervisors in training of Airworthiness Inspectors
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Proficient in the utilization of Federal Aviation Regulations, FAA forms and documents
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, use/interpretation of Maintenance Manuals, test specifications, and other inspection-related documentation as required
  • Familiar with FAA certification approval processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Strong computer skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word
  • Minimum 20 WPM typing speed
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
