At Albany Medical Center, we are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse II to join our team in the Colorectal Surgery department.

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with the nursing team to create a comprehensive plan of care. The successful candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

About the Role:

The Clinical Nurse II will work closely with patients undergoing colorectal and urologic surgery, providing post-operative care and supporting their recovery. This includes administering medications, performing treatments and procedures, and documenting treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications and start IVs as ordered by physicians
  • Perform treatments and procedures, including wound vac changes and NG tube insertion
  • Document treatment and patient progress in accordance with company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to create a comprehensive plan of care for each patient
  • Provide education and support to patients and families on post-operative care and recovery

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, applicants must have a Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred, hold current NYS Registered Nurse license, and obtain and maintain certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC. A minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department, preferably in a large academic, Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, is also required.
