Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Maintenance Operations team at The University of Texas at Austin as a Building Automation Systems Monitor. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the campus-wide Building Automation System (BAS) from a central control room.



Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the BAS for proper operation of building mechanical systems and respond to alarm conditions.
  • Analyze computer-generated and phoned-in facility-related problems, prioritize, and coordinate proper responses.
  • Handle normal and emergency phone calls as the after-hours call center, dispatching technicians as needed.
  • Provide timely and courteous customer service, keeping supervisors up-to-date on daily work order status.
  • Perform work independently from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Analyze operating difficulties with building systems using troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to identify equipment-related issues.
  • Collect building automation system data, run reports, maintain historical logs, and software databases.
  • Program building automation equipment for routine and event-driven facility equipment schedules.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or equivalent and experience with HVAC equipment and operation. Basic computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, are also required. A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are necessary for this position.



Preferred Qualifications

An associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience is preferred. Additionally, more than three years of experience in the required qualifications, experience at The University of Texas at Austin, or in a university setting, and demonstrated excellent communication and customer service skills are highly desirable.

Working Conditions

This is a 40-hour workweek schedule, Monday-Friday, with swing shift hours of 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, rotating days to include some weekends. The successful candidate will be required to work in a central control room environment with standard office conditions and may be required to drive University vehicles.
