Job Opportunity: Freelance Stenographic Court Reporter

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Stenographic Court Reporter to join our team in Washington, DC.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of capturing and documenting legal proceedings, including depositions, arbitrations, and administrative hearings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To accurately transcribe legal proceedings in real-time, utilizing advanced stenographic methods.
  • To ensure the highest level of accuracy and formatting in all transcripts, meeting client specifications.
  • To maintain and manage confidential notes, adhering to professional standards.
  • To provide backup audio recordings to the court reporting agency.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience as a stenographic court reporter, with a focus on depositions, arbitrations, and administrative hearings.
  • Real-time transcription skills, with proficiency in CAT software and dictionary maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge of legal terminology, courtroom procedures, and confidentiality protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to diverse client needs.
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work on-site within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCRA Certification or equivalent stenographic court reporting qualifications.
